Sweetheart, you didn't realize it all this while
But I'm right here - wherever you are
Biding my time, waiting in the wings,
Today I emerge triumphant - your shadow self
The self you try hard - to deny and destroy
The self you detest, and thought you left behind
As you basked in the glow of love - and warmth
And in your joy, gave fully and freely - to everyone
Thinking foolishly that you are blessed
With an abundance that never diminishes.
An abundance that balks not at negativity,
An abundance that can withstand any drought.
But the abundance, my dear - is an illusion.
A myth; a brilliant mirage on a hot summer day.
Doesn't last! The laws of nature don't work that way
Abundance, even of the heart - lasts only a while
When the abundance is gone - from deep within that well
Emerge I - my thunderous laughter deafening you
I have triumphed, have I not? You deny my existence
Yet here I am - in all my dark, deep ugliness....
I, your shadow self - exulting in sweet revenge
Cold, chilling and hard as the devil
No matter where you go, I'm always there
Deep within you, your very own Hyde.

A simple theme, expressed well :)
Hiya PK,
How are you? Hope you are doing well. As always it feels great to read your blogs.
It occurs to me that maybe shadows are afraid of other shadows and grow even darker.
Let there be light - Swami, who just couldn't resist :-)
(TOMF Swami)
All well Priya?
Long time :-)
Shpriya - thanks.
Swami - I think I know you, your tone seems familiar. Thanks, I do need the light these days :)
Ferrari - thanks. Was feeling a bit low when I wrote this, but ok now.
Priya.
Hey Priya, you know me from Sulekha CH (ToMF (vswami) was my handle there). I hope you are feeling better now. Didn't realize you were feeling low when you wrote it. I'd assumed you were giving voice to a philosophical realist. (I feel better that you kinda recognized me, otherwise my earlier comment might've sounded a bit rude maybe?)
Anyway I feel like I should clarify my earlier comment. I meant to say there is darkness in all of us and that makes it difficult/impossible for us to escape it (the regular "who bells the cat" situation) and let there be light for all of us. (and couldn't resist using my name to play god. hee hee)
Have a good weekend Priya. Will slowly read more of your earlier blogs.

The best person to turn to when in trouble is to ur Inner self :-)
It always thinks the opposite of what you are currently doing..:-)
Shadows do give u strength..dont they..:-)

Thank you Swami - I thought it might be you, but didn't catch the TOMF - but had all the liesure and didn't have to think on my feet :)
Nice to catch up with an old friend.
Gingko - yes, long time indeed. Shadows giving strength - don't know. Sometimes they can also drain strength :)
Priya.
Priya,
Lovely poem and shadows are indeed the darker side of us. I once read in poem (will find it and post it)... where the poet says (in essence)'Shadows are our best friends as they never leave us and are always there... then quietly turns to his own shadow and asks ' where were you my friend during my darkest hours? '... (Got it???)
LnRnHnMs,
Dooks
Dookie,
